Fitness influencer Connor Murphy’s death has been the subject of countless online conversations. However, what friends are now saying about the tragedy sounds far more tragic than anything you’ve seen on social media.
The influencer passed away July 7, 2026 in Thailand after an incident that left him drowning. Police were reportedly called to the scene after Murphy was behaving erratically in public and ran when they arrived. Since then, many theories have circulated about what happened that day. However, Connor’s friend Tony Huge wants people to pay attention to the red flags that friends saw leading up to Connor’ death.
Friends feared something was seriously wrong
Friends had expressed serious concern about Murphy prior to his death. Speaking to TMZ, Tony Huge shared that he and others close to Connor were planning an intervention.
Tony shared that they were worried about Murphy’s behavior, which had become increasingly erratic in the time leading up to his death. Tony said the group tried to reach Connor’s family one day before he died to stage an intervention.
He went on to say that the group just wanted the “old Connor” back, like in the old days. Unfortunately, they were unable to reach his family until it was too late.

The challenge of separating the persona from the person
Tony went on to describe how Connor Murphy would often put on a “character” for bits and pranks he would pull.
“The issue was Connor wouldn’t take the mask off,” Tony told TMZ. “Connor always kinda put on this character version of himself when he did his crazy stunts and pranks. But I always told him to take the mask off. One day, he just kept it on.”
He went on to say he tried to be a positive influence but admitted there was only so much he could do.
Questions about ‘liquid gold’ and Ayahuasca
Fans have also been curious about comments Tony made about Murphy injecting “liquid gold.”
Tony mentioned that Connor was looksmaxxing and told him the injections would help with his appearance. Tony added that Connor Murphy told him it gave him more energy and allowed him to “hold his hand underwater for 8 minutes.”
Andrew Tate also made comments about Connor Murphy using Ayahuasca in Peru.
“This is a real story. This dude went to Peru did Ayahuasca and when he came back he was a completely different person mentally,” Tate wrote on Twitter. “Never recovered from it.”

A career built on transformation
Murphy first rose to fame on YouTube by posting bodybuilding journeys, fitness tips, and vlogs. The channel was popular for his wild pranks in public.
In recent years, he pivoted to looksmaxxing content. Looksmaxxing typically involves participants altering their appearance through various means in the hopes of optimizing themselves.
