From Kerala to the K-Pop Stage
Reports from Indian media and Aria’s own profiles state she began her entertainment career as a child actor. She appeared in at least one Malayalam movie by the name of Melvilasom in 2011.
It’s not clear exactly how her childhood acting work led her to K-pop, but she has been interested in Korean music for many years. By 2022 she enrolled in GBK Entertainment’s online trainee program Universe as the artist name Ami.
Ami was set to debut in girl group MEP-C before she left the company. She later auditioned and became a trainee at Escrow Entertainment!
X:IN Debut and Growing Recognition
In March of 2023 Aria was announced as X:IN’s last member before the group’s debut. She debuted on April 11, 2023 with the single Keeping the Fire. She is considered X: IN’s maknae and provides rap and sub-vocalist for the group.
Aria is Korean and Indian, making her one of the few Indian idols in K-pop. When she was announced, Indian media claimed she was K-pop’s “second Indian idol” after Sriya Lenka of BLACKSWAN. However, they also claimed she was the first-ever Malayali artist in K-pop!
Aria and Triple iz
In addition to her work with X:IN, Aria joined Triple iz in 20×4. Triple iz is a project group composed of Dita from SECRET NUMBER, E. Ji from ICHILLIN’, and Aria!
The group released its debut single “Halla” on April 8, 20×4. The group will be performing across shows, though details are still forthcoming.
